A huge gilt and gesso wood teapot which was found in Maine. We don't know what to make of this. A whimsey from a wood turner with nothing else to do during a long Maine winter? We think it is probably a trade sign for display in a retailer's window. The body is constructed from wood blocks laminated up and turned on a lathe. The handle and spout are then applied to the body. The lid is also lathe turned. Height to the knop: 11 inches, width from handle to spout 17 inches. Maker? Wedgwood? Spode? Minton? Perhaps Turner! A picture simply cannot convey the size of this pot. $1,450
