Mahogany cabinet with boldy figured door opening to cubbyholes above drawer which is marked by the maker: Manufactured by Stephen Smith No. 51 & 53 Cornhill Boston. Smith worked as a cabinetmaker in Boston at various locations on or near Cornhill. He was known to make bank or counting house furniture and this piece undoubtedly was intended as a document / filing box to sit upon a desk. Retains original lock and key. 14 inches wide x 21 inches tall x 11 inches deep. Circa 1840. A rare piece of Boston signed furniture. $1,650
